OKC Air Show

Reid loves jets. In fact, he feels that is an understatement. He has told me more than once lately that he doesn't just like jets...they are his LIFE! So, since they are his self professed "life," Josh and I knew we had to feed that thirst for knowledge. We got online and started searching for air shows that we could attend over a weekend. We found the OKC Star Spangled Air Show and so it was set. Last weekend as soon as I was done teaching summer school we headed out to OKC for the weekend. We spent the entire day Saturday at the air show. Reid took pictures of jets, went inside jets, talked to pilots, watched jets perform tricks in the air, bought numerous jet souvenirs and thoroughly enjoyed the day soaking up everything he could about them. The boy was in heaven and seeing him happy and learning made it heaven for me as well.

Inside the cockpit...a highlight of the day.

One of Reid's favorites is the "shark jet."

We had a wonderful little mini family vacation and Reid was able to fulfill one of his life long dreams (his words) of being inside a jet and I got to get away with my two favorite guys. It is a good life.

My Daddy

"Old as she was, she still missed her daddy sometimes." ~Gloria Naylor

Dad and Mom there to root on Reid.

Reid and Dad enjoying a game of chase on the hay last season. Reid swears he has the best Papa in the world and I would have to agree!

And last, but not least, a throw back picture of Dad when he first began his Engineering career. That mustache is only ONE of the reasons Mom fell in love with him. :)

Happy Father's Day, Dad! Your little girl loves you!

Football Camp

Reid spent the last four days at the Cyclone Football Camp. I really gotta give props to our boy sticking it out for four straight days in 95+ degree temperatures from 9am - noon. In his own words after today's session, "he was hotter than a hot dog on a grill!" Not only did our little man show off his skills, but he walked away with 3 awards as well. First place in punting, 2nd place in Kicking and 2nd place in Passing Distance.

One of the coaches at the camp called Josh yesterday and said Reid's team was scrimmaging and it was the end of the game and 4th down. They were in the huddle and Reid looked at the quarterback and says, "Throw it to me. I will be the open one in the endzone." Sure enough...he was!

Josh was gracious enough to take some pictures of Reid in action at camp for me so I wouldn't embarrass Reid by showing up with camera in hand following our little MVP around. Thanks babe!

However, this camera toting mama did show up for the awards this afternoon. Way to go, Reid!

Getting ready for the awards...

Line those suckers up!

7 going on 17...

Our sweet, sweet boy turns 7 today! Smart, funny, cute as a button, you name it, I think this boy has it. :) He is continually making us proud. We are so lucky to have the honor of being this little man's parents! We celebrated with a rock-the-house party and were surrounded with wonderful family and friends. Endless kool aid, cake, pizza and the freedom to run, jump, and play wildly for hours...what more could you want for your 7th birthday?

The birthday boy with his cake for his army themed party.

The party location...The Jump Place downtown.

Reid and cousin Blake havin' some fun on the big slide.

Happy party-goers

Reid livin' it up in the boxing bump and jump.

And a post party snowcone made from one of his gifts -- his very own snowcone maker.

The party came to a close with Reid making a stunning realization. He quickly pointed out next year he will be 8...which is half way to 16 and DRIVING! Oh, that boy of ours!

Happy Birthday, Reider! We love you!
