To Do List

I am currently enrolled in Educational Leadership classes to obtain my master's and eventually secure a job as a principal. Reid and I were discussing my current class and were daydreaming about what it would be like when I am his principal someday when the following exchange took place.

Reid: When you are principal, are you going to let me do whatever I want and never get in trouble?

Me
: Sure, as long as you never do anything wrong.

Reid
: Oh, mom, you know I never get called to the principal's office.

Me: When I am principal, I will get on the intercom and say, "Reid, get to the principal's office right now!"

Reid: Why? So you can give me a kiss?

Me: You got it, kid! It will be on my "To Do" list daily.

Oh, my boy knows me so well! I'll never stop smoothering this face with kisses...

Reid's Football Debut

My heart is about to explode. Reid kicked off his flag football season today with a Jamboree. He played three games and fyi...we went 3-0! I so adore watching my boy out on that football field.

Reid playing a little defensive end...he's a beast.

Then Reid rolled out to play receiver.

And then...quarterback! Reid was ready for the snap...

He faked the pass then took off running. Our wild man sprinted all the way down the field for a TOUCHDOWN!

Luckily, Josh had his iPhone out to record his quarterback debut so he got Reid's touchdown all on video! I can't imagine who the crazy woman was screaming, "Run, Baby, run!" on this video. :)

He was all smiles after his touchdown...did I mention he scored a TOUCHDOWN? We are just a tad excited. We have two more games next week and can't wait. Reid is lovin' every minute of it and can't wait to show Josh's football players his touchdown. Way to go, Baby!

If I were...

So, my old roomie, Angela tagged me to complete the following "If I were..." questions. Mind you, I am not the writer extrodanaire that she is (yes, she really is - check her blog out), but I will give it a whirl for my reader's entertainment and for the simple fact my peeps, Angela, asked me to do it.

If I were a month, I would be July. Does it get any better than summertime, cold lemonade, no school and fireworks? I don't think so.

If I were a day of the week, I would be Thursday! It's hubby's game night and oh how do the Edgin's love their football games. Not to mention, it is almost the weekend AND the next day is jeans day at school!

If I were a time of day, I would be right when Reid wakes up in the morning and comes crawls between Josh and I. There is something just comforting knowing that our boy is safe and sound in our arms. We are all three perfectly content just lying there talking and giggling of course.

If I were sea animal, I would be a starfish. I mean really...how awesome would life be just lounging on the beach soaking up the sun all day! Ahhh...now that is the life.

If I were a direction, it would be south. Sweet iced tea, humid nights and a slow southern drawl...doesn't get any sweeter than that. But, funny, because my husband would truly be north. He loves the cold. Crazy, huh?

If I were a piece of furniture, it would be a rocking chair. On a porch...with that glass of sweet, iced tea. I'm just sayin'...

If I were a gemstone, I would be a pearl. Simple and clean. Not to mention, my first piece of jewelry was a pair of heart earrings with a pearl on them from my parent's when I was a little girl...which I still have to this day.

If I were a tree, I would be a magnolia. In my grandmother's yard stands a enormous, beyond gorgeous magnolia tree to this day. We would sit under it in her green metal swing and shoot the breeze. It will be hard not seeing that tree anymore when my parents move. Yes, I know its just a tree, but it is her tree.

If I were a flower, I would be a red gerber daisy. I have always loved these flowers for their sheer beauty. But, they were the flower on my grandmother's casket, so now it carries a whole other sentimental value to me.

If I were a kind of weather, I would be a summer night. The kind of night that sticks to your skin, makes you talk slow, move even slower and eventually leads to a bowl of homemade ice cream.

If I were a car, I would be a blue and white early 80's Chevy Blazer. What? That's not the car of choice these days? That was my first car which meant freedom. It also meant my parents trusted me enough to let me loose with it and worked hard enough to provide it for me. It was a simpler time in life...

If I were a place, I would be a beach. Really - no surprise there. Long as I am not snow/cold, I would be pretty content.

If I were a fabric, I would be denim. Jeans - gotta love 'em.

If I were a scent, I would be honeysuckle. Sweet, soft and a flood of memories of growing up on my family's farm.

If I were a song, I would be Butterfly Kisses. The first song my daddy and I danced to. I still tear up to this day when I hear it.

If I were a pair of shoes, I would be on sale. That's right...this girl loves her sales!

Ok, well now you know what I would be if I were... I know you will rest better and feel more complete after reading this post. So, now it is my turn to tag someone to do the same for mankind. I tag Danielle. Let's hear what you have to say...

My Drag Racing Daddy

After a 35 year hiatus, my Dad has taken up drag racing again! When he and my mom were first married, he used to drag race all the time. Then, life happened...a career, children, baseball, farming. But, now he has decided to get back to the drag strip and he is making us all proud! He and my mom (she is supporting him 110% like she always does) have been working on the truck non stop with a friend of theirs to get it race ready. This weekend was the first time back on the track. Saturday we met them in Centerville to watch him run and we couldn't have been more excited! Reid, especially, idolizes his Papa and was just giddy to be able to see him race.

Getting ready to race!

Dad edging up to the starting line

At this point, I was already yelling for him to GO!

Two of Dad's biggest fans!

Reid was enthralled with watching his Papa race.

Dad and his one man Pit Crew - Reid. Reid wanted to know everything Dad was doing and how to do it so he could help.

This boy loves his Nana and Papa.

Congratulations, Dad! We can't wait to watch you again! Your Pit Crew is ready to go!

Dentist day and another "W"

We had a busy day yesterday starting off with a trip to the dentist for Reid to have two teeth pulled that just wouldn't fall out. Our little man was given the "goofy juice" and doesn't remember anything after that. He had quite the time coming out of the anesthesia. He would cry his little heart out and when I would ask what is wrong he would say, "I don't know - I just feel like I need to cry." He frequently asked, after the fact, when they were going to pull his tooth. I had to continue to reassure him they already had...even though he argued the fact many times. :) It was a pretty interesting morning. Reider was a brave little man though and we were very proud of him! Thankfully, it finally wore off and he was back to his energetic and happy self. So, we headed out to Hubby's football game and he brought home another WIN! 14-0. Congrats, baby!

And what's a post without pictures? So, here are the two loves of my life.

Coaching his little heart out.

Handsome boy intent on the game

Lastly, the empty seat next to Reid and I on the bleachers. Reserved for Courtney and Elam -- can't wait for these two to join us at the games again when Elam is old enough!

Reid

I love pictures and I don't try to hide it. So for Mother's Day, Hubby knew exactly what I would want --- professional photography sessions with Melissa McCrotty. The first one was a mini-session for Reid and then we have another full session for all three of us in a couple of weeks. The mini session was last weekend and we just got the pictures in the mail yesterday. We could not be more pleased! It is amazing how fast our little man is growing up so I truly treasure these pictures of our boy. Prepare yourself...there were just too many I loved so you might get picture overload even though this is just some of the awesomeness Melissa took that evening.

Now, I just have to decide which ones to order. I wonder if her order form has an "all of the above" box?

It begins...

Can you feel it? We do. We feel it, breath it, live it...football season. Last night was hubby's first game and he got the W! 16-14 over Van Buren. It was definitely a nailbiter and my heart was pounding down to the last minute of play when we scored and went for two for the win!

The pre-game talk

Is he not H-O-T?!

This Josh with his grandmother and aunt. I go pick up his grandmother for the first game every year so she can see her Joshie coach. This year, his aunt took off and came with us too! We had such a great time and they are so proud of Josh...can't say I blame them!

So I will take my faithful seat in the stands for another season and root on Hubby...but I wouldn't have it any other way!
