Reid was pumping himself up for soccer practice this afternoon and was trying to remember the lyrics to We Will Rock You. I, being the resourceful mom I am, quickly Googled it on my iPhone. I handed him the phone so he could read the lyrics. He instantly began reading and singing the song and I thought the pre-soccer practice crisis had been averted. As he gets to the end, he hands the phone back to me and says, "You don't look anything like her." I quickly glanced down and noticed there was a bikini clad model in an advertisement at the bottom of the lyric page. Nice.
One might think I would leave it alone, but no, not me. I proceeded to quiz my 6 year old just exactly how I didn't look anything like that aforementioned bikini clad model. He bluntly said, "Well, she is taller. And thinner. And she has smooth skin."
Again, one might think I would leave it at that, but oh no. I inquired more. I asked Reid, "How is my skin if it isn't smooth like hers?" Without hesistation he replied, "You have, well, old woman skin." Ah, lovely.
Now, I must say, my loving little boy would have NEVER said that if he thought it would have hurt my feelings. However, he knows not only do I have old woman skin...it's thick, too. I know he still loves me, old woman skin and all.
