Floors and Fairies

We have been wanting to put in new floors in our house, but always said, "later." Well, last Saturday we decided it was "later." We bought the flooring, found a contractor and started demo all in one day. By Saturday night, thanks to our good friend Eston, we had all the carpet and tile removed. The carpet was a breeze; however, the tile was laid incorrectly by the previous owners, so it was far from easy to take up. Josh and Eston ended up using a sledgehammer and busting up each and every tile. Fun Saturday night, huh?

The carpet was a snap to rip out.

This part wasn't so easy...more like nightmarish.

Josh and Eston hard at work...they were the muscles of the operation.

All the tile busted up - the product of A LOT of hard work by Josh and Eston.

They even helped sweep up the mess. Are they not great guys??

Our contractor laid the hardwood floors on Monday and Tuesday. We have spent the remainder of the week cleaning, cleaning and cleaning some more. The floors are completely done except the trim, which we are waiting for another contractor to come and finish. We LOVE how the hardwoods look and it really opens up the area.

And finally...the new floor!

On another note, Reider lost two more teeth! I didn't think that boy could get any cuter, but he accomplished it with his toothless grin. He placed his tooth under his pillow with a little note that said, "30 dollars please." He also drew a precious little picture to persuade the tooth fairy to up the anty because he was in dire need of a remote control airplane (or so he thinks). He busted into our room the next morning holding $3.00 and matter of factly states, "Uh, I think the tooth fairy forgot a zero!" After a long explanation that the tooth fairy must have had a lot of children lose teeth that day and couldn't afford to leave that much, Reid decided he would just go to plan B...his Nana of course! :)

I love this boy!
